Lindia Holmes

Lindia Anna Marie Clauzel-Holmes is the proud native of her Island home St. Lucia.  Mrs. Holmes is the daughter of Henri and Lina Clauzel. She has one brother and two sisters.  Mrs. Holmes is the faithful wife of Samuel Holmes Jr and the nurturing mother of three boys, La’ Marion, Trey and Darius.

At the tender age of 18 Mrs. Holmes left the comfort of her parents’ home to pursue a Bachelor of Degree in Psychology and Sociology at the Midwestern State University in Wichita Fall, TX. Mrs. Holmes graduated with high honors and was afforded the opportunity to work at a foster care private agency in New York for 8 months. She then landed a job as a Child Welfare Specialist at the Administration for Children’s Services in New York, New York. Mrs. Holmes witnessed 911 as it was a few blocks from her job. After 911 there was a major layoff of state workers. 

Mrs. Holmes then moved to Jacksonville Illinois where she worked and volunteered at Prince of Peace daycare before being hired by Illinois State Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Mrs. Holmes currently remains employed at DCFS for the past 16 years. In August 2011 Mrs. Holmes attained a master’s degree in social work at the St. Louis University. On June 7th, 2013 Mrs. Holmes was awarded the African American Outstanding Achievement Award by the IL DCFS and African American Advisory Council. In May 2019 Mrs. Holmes was recognized for her dedication towards Children and Families of Illinois and the positive Impact that she had made in the Birth to Three Initiative.  Currently Mrs. Holmes is the High-Risk Intact Supervisor in the Springfield Subregion for the past two years.

Mrs. Holmes greatest treasures are her love for God, family, and his people. It is her desire to help others get access to resources in order to reach their true potential.  Her favorite quote is “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness”
